John McMasters graduated from Shorecrest High School in north Seattle. He attended the University of Washington, where he graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. He obtained his law degree from Boston University School of Law, and a second law degree specializing in taxation from the New York University Law School.

Following his graduation, John practiced in the area of taxation with Arthur Anderson & Company in both Boston and Seattle. He is licensed as a CPA in Massachusetts.

John's practice concentrates on estate planning, probate, real estate, corporations, and limited liability companies. He has served on the finance commitees and boards of several charitable and civic organizations.
